The city-state of Kyrine has long been a centre for fine arts, crafts and learning as it prospered under the rule of the Patrikid family. The current Tyrant, Theophania 'Digonea' (the Twice-Born, citizens of Kyrine call her) has ruled the city for nearly thirty years and has continued the patronage of the arts and the maintenance of a significant library and school. The Tyrant is well regarded by her people as city-dwellers, farmers and the noble families have been kept sated and content. Whether this is because of a careful rule, or because the Patrikids are said to be the descendants of one of the Trinity, it is hard to say, but there are few voices of dissent to hear.

Theophania is Famed for the fairness of her rule and the prosperity of Kyrine.

The Tyrant herself ruled Argonia as she had ruled Kyrine though she was found to spend more time outside the palaces and city walls and travelling the lands. At these times, she was always accompanied by a bearskin cloak and a lone bear that would guard her fiercely, but be calm and gentle otherwise. When the already aged Tyrant had grown even older, she had still borne no heir and the custom of inheriting the Tyranny did not pass on and when the Tyrant disappeared for the last time, the new Tyrant of Argonia came to be selected from the foremost Scholastic families…
