Gideon Rask commands the “Lord Protector's Own” Battalion of the City Watch. He is known for his skill at tackling crime and his grasp of battlefield strategy.

His 1st Battalion are also notable for resisting the corruption so endemic in the rest of the Watch. It is a foolish Noble indeed who attempts to bribe his way out of an encounter with one of the Lord Protector's Own Watchmen.

Gideon Rask spent his time in the new world much as he'd spent it in the old one - as a copper. Wanting a world with justice and protection for the meek, Rask began to train a cadre of Watchmen to safeguard any kingdom that would accept them. This New World Watch enforced some laws which were universal (such as those against murder) and some which were specific to each kingdom. Travelling far and wide to support this new organisation and to handle the most difficult cases personally, Rask never really had a home after being cast out from the Lord Protector's City. He spent some of his time in Circustopia with Ringmaster Phael and his entourage, but increasingly looked to his former ally Greta for company.

As Lady Greta’s influence grew so too did the new City around her. Though Rask never truly called it home, his children by Greta did and House Rask endures within its walls to this day. When the first of the Sorcerer-Queens of the new world arose and sought to annex the new City Rask rode out to meet her upon the battlefield and there, through fire and blade, he did his duty.
