Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Can I save the world?
  • A: If you gain your enjoyment by playing a game where you are likely to succeed in your goals: you probably shouldn't make saving the world a goal (This is the only response to this question you will ever get from a GM)

  • Q: How does Disjunction differ from previous Society Games?
  • A: The primary difference will be the lack of an Eternity. Characters should strive to live the last days of their life and the face the end of the world in a manner of their choosing rather than be engineering an eternity.

  • Q: Sorcery seems unbalanced; what gives?
  • A: At high levels Sorcery is capable of impressive things but even the greatest Sorcerer will be an unskilled person with little influence over others. Hence there are things that Sorcerers will find extremely difficult, even impossible, to accomplish just as there are problems characters with different types of power will find hard to solve. If, of course, all you care about is who can explode who; then yes Sorcery is very powerful, but we would encourage players not to adopt this mindset as the GMs are not intending to run the game to that metric.

  • Q: I'm not sure I enjoy PvP. Should I play Disjunction?
  • A: Obviously we would like you to play and we do give you the option of opting out of lethal conflict. However the setting is antagonistic by design and we do expect lots of PvP of both the lethal and plot foiling kind. That said we will do all in our power to make the game enjoyable for everyone no matter what sort of game you want to play.

  • Q: Can I do X with my Magic?
  • A: Sorcery is capable of almost anything that can be imagined. However in the setting its limits can only be explored by actively experimenting with it hence the answer to this question will almost always be: “Both in character and out of character you really aren't sure what will happen if you try X”.

  • Q: I have exams, theses or other associated intellectual bric-a-brac; can I have an extension of my turnsheet submission deadline?
  • A: We fully appreciate that players will have other important things to do. If you tell the GMs at the session before the turnsheet that you may need an extension we will do our best to oblige.

  • Q: Can I play/have a Dragon?
  • A: No.
